Amazon is exploring the possibility of using electric vehicles for deliveries in the Middle East, a move that has already been implemented in Europe and the US. In an exclusive interview with Arabian Business at the Retail Summit in Dubai, Ronaldo Mouchawar, CEO of Amazon MENA, stated that the company has been investigating the use of electric scooters, small bikes, and vehicles for last-mile deliveries in the region.
Mouchawar highlighted that the region presents specific challenges in implementing electric vehicles, including the need for a charging network and the effect of high temperatures on vehicle performance. He emphasized Amazon’s commitment to sustainability and the company’s exploration of autonomous cars in partnership with Zoox.
In the US, Amazon has already partnered with American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian to design and use electric vehicles for deliveries, with a focus on safety and sustainability.
