Abu Dhabi is set to host high-speed self-driving car races and AI-powered drone flying contests as part of the newly announced Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League. The league, launched by ASPIRE, aims to create a world-class research and development hub in Abu Dhabi and will feature the world’s largest autonomous racing league.

The first autonomous car race, using Dallara-built Super Formula cars, will take place at Yas Marina Circuit in Q2 2024, with a prize pool of more than $2m. The goal of the league is to push the boundaries of autonomous mobility and advance R&D in autonomous racing and artificial intelligence. Live updates from augmented and virtual reality infographics will be available for spectators, and the league will also include autonomous off-road racing and autonomous drone racing.
