According to a Twitter post by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), employees in the UAE who have unused annual leave can either choose to carry forward their remaining days or receive a cash allowance. The procedure to be followed regarding unused annual leave is stated in the Regulation of Labour Relations Law and its implementing regulations for two cases: when the worker is still employed or when their service has ended. If the worker is still employed, they may agree with their employer to carry forward unused annual leave or part of it, or they may agree to receive a cash allowance. However, if the worker’s service ends, they will be paid a cash allowance for the balance of their legally due annual leaves.

In 2023, UAE workers can take 58 days of holiday by making use of public holidays and 24 days of annual leave. The UAE has announced the prospective holiday dates for occasions such as Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha, the Islamic New Year, and National Day. Each UAE employee is entitled to at least two days of paid leave for each month of work, which is equivalent to 24 days of paid annual leave. To maximize their UAE holiday time, employees can follow the guide provided.
