UAE’s Moon-Sighting Committee Announces First Day of Ramadan

On Tuesday, the moon-sighting committee of the UAE announced that the first day of Ramadan will be observed on Thursday, March 23. The committee also stated that Wednesday, March 22 will be the 30th day of Sha’ban.

As for the working hours during Ramadan 2023, the UAE has reduced the official working hours for both public and private sectors. Federal government employees will work from 9:00am to 2:30pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9:00am to 12:00pm on Fridays. Additionally, the shifts of Federal employees will be 70% remote and 30% in-person attendance on Fridays during Ramadan. Meanwhile, private sector employees will have a two-hour reduction in their daily working hours, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
