Businesses in the UAE have been advised to utilize social media during Ramadan to maintain smooth operations and connect with customers in a secure, reliable, and private way, according to a global study by Kantar Group. The study also found that 66% of people worldwide prefer messaging a business over using email. To help businesses drive sales during Ramadan, Kantar has identified five WhatsApp strategies.

Firstly, businesses should create a great messaging experience for customers, using WhatsApp as their virtual store counter to showcase products, answer queries, and drive sales. Personalizing messages to create connections and enhancing the relevancy of messages using buttons and product messages with in-thread cart and product selection is also important. Secondly, businesses should attract new customers by adding QR codes on storefronts, websites, product packaging, or marketing materials to enable customers to connect easily via WhatsApp. Thirdly, businesses can drive traffic from social media by adding a WhatsApp button to their Facebook or Instagram accounts. Fourthly, businesses should stay organized during the busy Ramadan period by leveraging catalogue collections to group and organize products into specific categories. Finally, as their customer base and chat volume grow, businesses can graduate from the WhatsApp Business app to the more powerful WhatsApp Business Platform to engage with customers at scale.
