Under the ongoing efforts of Operation “Gallant Knight / 2”, the Emirates Red Crescent’s (ERC) field team organized a humanitarian initiative to aid those affected by the earthquake in Jableh and Latakia. In coordination with its Syrian counterpart, the ERC distributed medical supplies, medicines, and nutritional supplements to homes for the elderly. Additionally, they provided electric wheelchairs to people of determination who lost their homes and families due to the earthquake in the Latakia Governorate. The Emirates News Agency (WAM) assisted the ERC field team by offering psychological and material support to quake-affected families in various regions of Syria.
The beneficiaries of this initiative expressed their gratitude towards the UAE and the ERC for their continuous efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people. Zain Al Abidin, a Syrian child who received an electric wheelchair, expressed his appreciation, stating that it was like having two new feet that allowed him to move faster and go wherever he wanted.
As part of Operation “Gallant Knight / 2”, the UAE remains committed to supporting the people of Syria by providing food and medical supplies and bridging the needs gap in the education and healthcare sectors.
