Ogler Eyescan, an AI app developed by an 11-year-old Dubai based coder, Leena Rafeeq, can analyze various parameters such as light and color intensity, distance, and look-up points to locate the eyes within the frame range. It can also detect light burst issues and determine if the eyes are positioned correctly in the scanner frame. Once the scan quality is established, the app uses trained models to diagnose potential eye diseases or conditions such as arcus, melanoma, pterygium, and cataract.
The young coder created Ogler Eyescan without relying on any third-party libraries or packages, using the SwiftUI programming language. Her six-month development process involved extensive research and development on different eye conditions, computer vision, algorithms, machine learning models, and advanced levels of Apple iOS development, including sensor data, AR, CreateML, CoreML, and more.
The app is currently under AppStore review and supports iPhone 10 and above with iOS 16+. Leena’s LinkedIn post announcing the app’s development has gone viral, with many users congratulating the young coder on her achievement. This isn’t the first time that the family has made headlines for their programming prowess – the coder’s older sister, Hana Rafeeq, also made history as the youngest iOS developer in the world a few years ago, garnering praise from Apple CEO Tim Cook.
