du, from Emirates Integrated Company (EITC), has recently concluded the 2019 Summer Training Programme, as part of its commitment towards developing and nurturing current and future generations of the UAE, and supporting the vision of the country’s wise leadership in equipping and empowering the future leaders of the private sector. 2019 is the first year which has witnessed successful participation by people of determination in the training programme. The one-month yearly programme aimed at equipping UAE nationals with real job experiences to help them shape their future and understand their career path. It included people of determination from Zayed University in Abu Dhabi, high-school students from grade 10 – 12, as well as university students and fresh graduates who are on the lookout for a job, or a part time experience. Trainings were held at du retail stores across the UAE. Participants had the chance to train on customer service tactics, such as welcoming and interacting with different type of customers, understanding the core products and services of du, understanding the system the telco uses to do transactions, as well as stock count and daily huddles. du Summer Training program underwent a major transformation in 2016 when trainees were integrated in the telco’s retail stores. In 2017, the programme was extended to du’s Fujairah Call Center and children of Emirati women and residents of Comoros Islands. In 2019, the training programme has further expanded to include people of determination.

Etihad Airways celebrates 15 years in India

0

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is preparing to celebrate 15 years of service to its largest and busiest market, India. The airline’s milestone coincides with the third visit to the UAE of India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, highlighting the importance of the partnership between the two countries.

Etihad launched daily flights between the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, and the Indian city of Mumbai in September 2004, within the airline’s first year of operation. Three months later, flights were also launched between Abu Dhabi and New Delhi.

Today, Etihad operates 159 return flights per week between Abu Dhabi and 10 key Indian gateways – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram – and through its Abu Dhabi hub, the airline connects each of these gateways to international destinations throughout the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and Africa. Since launching operations to the sub-continent, Etihad has carried more than 16.5 million passengers on its Indian routes.

Etihad Airways Group CEO Tony Douglas said: “India and the United Arab Emirates share a long and strong economic, cultural and diplomatic relationship, and Etihad Airways connects these nations to each other, and beyond.  We serve more destinations in India than any other country in our network, and connect India to the world via Abu Dhabi. Globally, we employ more than 4,800 Indian nationals, almost 25 per cent of our workforce. We contribute strongly to both economies, and last year spent US $151 million with 480 companies in India. Our commitment is significant, and will continue to grow.”

Etihad’s offering in the India market continues to evolve. The airline is continually increasing flights and adding newer, larger aircraft, including its latest addition, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which serves cities including Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad.

Etihad Guest, the airline’s loyalty programme, recently partnered with SBI Card, one of India’s largest credit card providers, to offer a unique travel-specific Visa credit card to Indian travellers. And for guests flying Etihad from India to the United States, the Customs and Border Protection facility at Abu Dhabi Airport, enables US immigration, customs and agriculture formalities to be completed in Abu Dhabi before departure.

India is an important strategic source market for Etihad Cargo. In addition to belly space cargo capacity on the 159 weekly passenger aircraft between Abu Dhabi and India, Etihad Cargo operate dedicated freighter flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai. In the past decade, Etihad has carried more than 560,000 tonnes of cargo to and from India, from general cargo to key Indian exports including garments, perishable products, pharmaceuticals and electronics.

Etihad also continues to support India through a range of corporate social responsibility initiatives, including its Global Education Project to provide or raise funds for new education facilities and supplies. The airline also runs workshops to develop skills and support the empowerment of women, and provides aid to assist after natural disasters such as floods in Kerala, where it provided fresh water, clothes, blankets, kitchen utensils and hygiene kits to more than 1,000 people located at a relief camp in the state.

As a minority shareholder in and key partner of Jet Airways, Etihad was able to improve international connectivity with India, via Abu Dhabi.  Even after Jet’s flights were suspended earlier this year, Etihad worked consistently and constructively to help revive the Indian carrier, and continues to explore opportunities to collaborate with other local partners to help serve this rapidly-expanding market.

flydubai expands East with the launch of flights to Krabi and Yangon

Dubai-based flydubai today announced the launch of flights to Krabi in Thailand and Yangon in Myanmar, expanding its network to Southeast Asia. The new daily flights are codeshared with Emirates and will operate from Terminal 3 at Dubai International (DXB) starting from 10 December 2019.

Krabi International Airport (KBV) serves as a gateway to Krabi province in southern Thailand and neighbouring regions like Malaysia and Singapore. With the launch of the daily service, which is operated via a stop in Yangon in Myanmar, flydubai becomes the first UAE national carrier to offer flights to Krabi. The new direct flights to Yangon International Airport (RGN) will also give passengers easier access to the largest city and commercial centre of Myanmar.

Commenting on the launch of the two new routes, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai said: “We are proud to see the flydubai network expand further east today with the launch of flights to Krabi and Yangon. Over the past 10 years we have remained committed to opening up underserved markets, enabling millions of passengers to travel with more ease from as far as Helsinki in the west to Krabi in the east via Dubai’s aviation hub.

The innovative partnership with Emirates, which has been in place since 2017, goes beyond code-sharing and includes integrated network collaboration with coordinated scheduling. Earlier this year, flydubai inaugurated its operations to Naples, complimenting the existing Emirates network in Italy. Similarly, the new flights to Krabi will give passengers more options to fly to Thailand which is already accessible from the UAE with flights to Bangkok and Phuket with Emirates.

Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Subcontinent and Africa) at flydubai, said: “The launch of the new routes will further support the trade links between the UAE, Myanmar and Thailand. We are confident that flydubai’s daily flights will be popular for passengers not only travelling from the UAE but also from the GCC and those connecting from Europe and the USA on the Emirates network.”

Krabi is a popular holiday destination for beach goers and adventures alike. While limestone cliffs, dense mangrove forests and the famous Phi Phi Island will amaze nature enthusiasts, Krabi also offers activities like diving, hiking or exploring the Huay Toh Waterfall in Phanom Bencha National Park.

As the largest city in Myanmar, Yangon is known for its fascinating mix of colonial architecture, and a modern high-rise skyline, combined with traditional pagodas. One of Yangon’s most famous landmarks is the Shwedagon Paya, a gold shimmering pagoda complex, which is one of Buddhism’s most sacred sites.

Apple offers customers even more options for safe, reliable repairs

0

Cupertino, California — Apple today announced a new repair program, offering customers additional options for the most common out-of-warranty iPhone repairs. Apple will provide more independent repair businesses — large or small —  with the same genuine parts, tools, training, repair manuals and diagnostics as its Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs). The program is launching in the US with plans to expand to other countries.“To better meet our customers’ needs, we’re making it easier for independent providers across the US to tap into the same resources as our Apple Authorized Service Provider network,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “When a repair is needed, a customer should have confidence the repair is done right. We believe the safest and most reliable repair is one handled by a trained technician using genuine parts that have been properly engineered and rigorously tested.”The new independent repair provider program complements Apple’s continued investment in its growing global network of over 5,000 AASPs that lead the industry for customer satisfaction and help millions of people with both in- and out-of-warranty service for all Apple products. There is no cost to join Apple’s independent repair program. To qualify for the new program, businesses need to have an Apple-certified technician who can perform the repairs. The process for certification is simple and free of charge. To learn more and apply, visit support.apple.com/irp-program. Qualifying repair businesses will receive Apple-genuine parts, tools, training, repair manuals and diagnostics at the same cost as AASPs.Over the past year, Apple has launched a successful pilot with 20 independent repair businesses in North America, Europe and Asia who are currently offering genuine parts for repairs. Today’s announcement follows Apple’s recent major expansion of its authorized service network into every Best Buy store in the US, tripling the number of US AASP locations compared to three years ago.

Mother-Daughter Duo from KSA to Pay Tribute to UAE with Unique Paintings at Year of Tolerance Art Exhibition by 2XL Furniture & Home Décor

Saudi artist Reem Alsubiy and her mother Dahana Salem will come together to pay tribute to the UAE at the Year of Tolerance Art Exhibition by 2XL Furniture & Home Décor. The duo will convey the message of peace and hope alongside 100 leading and emerging, local and international artists,  with their unique paintings being displayed at the show from 11th to 14th September at the 2XL store on Al Wasl Road in Jumeirah.

Amit Yadav, Head of Marketing, 2XL Furniture & Home Décor, said, “Art is one of the most universal and powerful languages that transcends boundaries and cultures and we are very excited to see so many diverse styles and nationalities united by the theme of tolerance. Both Reem Alsubiy and Dahana Salem are exceptional artists and we are very proud to have them in our show.”

Talking about the inspiration behind her striking works, Reem stressed, “We all know that love and understanding are the most important and powerful aspects of communication. From the beginning of time, the human race witnessed war and hatred in many forms, as much as it had its share of love and peace. The fact that humans have been faced by the same problem can’t be ignored, yet there will always be hunger and desire for peace.”

Reem continued, “The ladies in my paintings are caring and different kinds of species. While some of them are stronger, others are weaker, yet both co-exist. Therefore, in my theme I’m focusing on the idea (that differences between creatures wouldn’t be an obstacle for them to live peacefully, only if they were raised in peace). My duty as an artist is to stand strong holding the message of peace, delivering peace from my heart to other people’s hearts. I believe that whatever comes from the heart will always find its way to hearts.”

The subjects in Dahana works are equally bold and meaningful. She said, “Hope, love, peace and understanding are key to build a strong and beautiful future for the human race. I believe that art has the power to deliver any message and what makes my paintings unique is their ability to connect with people and touch their soul.”
